Inspired by countryside walks and the changes in weather and season upon the landscape, Alexandra captures her favourite scenery as hand printed reduction linocuts. This relief printing technique involves cutting and printing several layers of colour from the same block of lino in order to build up an image. Only small editions are created of each print and each one is printed by hand.
Her work is impressionistic in style; it is colourful, full of light, depth and detail. Themes for Alexandra’s work include woodlands and trees, water and reflections, and flowers and fields.
Alexandra Buckle lives and works in Bicester where she also teaches private lino cutting workshops. She is a founder member of the Buckinghamshire Craft Guild, a best seller on the Artfinder online marketplace, and her linocuts have been displayed at the Royal Academy and Mall Galleries in London.
