Altea Grau Vidal
Altea Grau is a practicing artist and researcher based in London. She holds a BA in Fine Arts by the Polythechnic University of Valencia (Spain). In 2012 was awarded the Rector’s Scholarship (UAL) and the Davalos Fletcher Foundation Award to complete the MA Book Arts at Camberwell Colege of Arts, University of the Arts London. Currently she is finishing her PhD at the CCW University of the Arts London, which is titled: Unmasking Conventions, a re evaluation of the notion of the double page spread. Her research has been published and presented in conferences and symposium such as Impact_10 (Santander), Swab (Barcelona) or Perversions of Paper (Birkbeck, London).
Vidal´s artwork explores the concept of reading and the notion of the double page spread as a place to develop site-specific practice to investigate the meaning that emerges from the engagement with the visual, spatial, material and connotative properties of the double page. She participates in artists residencies and exhibits internationally. Her work is part of collections such including the V&A Library, Chelsea Special Collection, Leeds College of Arts Special Collection, DKV Foundation, Consorci de Museus de la Generalitat Valenciana and Harold Berg Collection amongst others.
