Catherine Cronin has been making and exhibiting artists’ books, multiples, prints and mixed media since completing a degree Ba (Hons) Print Media Book Arts & Craft in 2001. Her work is held in private and public collections.
Cronin makes handmade original prints themed often on encounters with natural and urban environments. She produces intaglio and relief prints; the medium usually decided by the style of preparatory work produced during exploration of a subject.
The intention of the image is to place the reader of the work in a particular moment, to prompt an emotional response as well as thoughtfulness in the viewer. Cronin hopes the work brings a pause for thought, a lightness of spirit, and an escape from the busyness of modern life that can be overwhelming.
