Grossman's artwork focuses on the search for a personal narrative, interpreted via a chosen subject, visited, recorded & encapsulated by an emotional response.
Often an essential energy is derived from the 'essence' of a chosen subject. A final piece is the culmination of many 2D studies in charcoal & graphite. Paring down the colour to an almost monotone palette has enabled her to achieve a quiet dialogue between artist and viewer. Thus creating an opportunity to become aware of the abstracted nature of the marks and yet retain the representational character of the work.
It is this fine line between realism and abstraction that is the focus of much of her study and is intended conclusion of many of her ideas in print.
