Fiona Fouhy will be demonstrating her methods of monotype and drypoint printing.
Monotypes are unique prints created through using gestural, textural marks with oily printing inks onto a flat surface, then pressing and transferring this image onto paper. Monoprinting is a flexible, dynamic process and can be combined with other printing techniques such as drypoint etching. Drypoint prints are created by scratching marks and incisions into a flat surface with a sharp tool. When ink is wiped across the plate it catches in the indents, creating an image when printed onto paper. Fiona will be demonstrating both techniques from start to finish, producing original prints.
