Gill Saunders, Senior Curator of Prints, will talk about contemporary prints in the V&A collection, and the V&A’s collecting priorities. She will also explore some of the many reasons why artists choose to work in print.
Gill Saunders is Senior Curator of Prints in the Word & Image Department of the Victoria & Albert Museum, and an Honorary Member of the Printmakers Council. Her publications Prints Now: Directions and Definitions (V&A, 2006; with Rosie Miles and In Black and White: prints from Africa and the Diaspora (with Zoe Whitley, V&A, 2013). She co-curatedSurface Noise, a show of innovative contemporary printmaking at the Jerwood Space, London, in 2011. She has curated several V&A UK touring exhibitions – including Modern Masters in Print: Matisse, Picasso, Dali and Warhol, and most recently, Pop Art in Print. She writes, lectures and broadcasts regularly on 20th-century and contemporary art.
