Fiona Rimmer is a Hampshire based printmaker. She has spent the last few years developing her working process in non-toxic etching, specifically etching onto aluminium with copper sulphate. The aluminium etches very quickly and it is possible to build up areas of tone without using an aquatint. This method lends itself to Fiona's loose painterly style of image building, contrasting soft tonal areas with swift graphic lines.
Fiona's subject matter is drawn from the landscape. She aims to seek out meditative quietude within her imagery. It is a rejection of modern day life.
'I am very interested in themes of pilgrimage and solitude. I am looking for etherial moments where light and landscape meet.'
