Fran Gordon’s practice explores print and materiality through many processes such as layering, multiplying or reproducing, using various mediums from sculpture and ceramics to printmaking and painting. Predominantly using screen printing, Gordon is engaged in images and how we place ourselves in the present and in memory. The push and pull between digital and physical space has always informed her printmaking: from repetition of images to the physical nature of the printing process itself. This process allows her to explore a sort of ‘in-between’ of memory, physical and imagination.
Gordon graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2014 and from MA Print at Royal College of Art in 2017. She was shortlisted for New Contemporaries 2018, and have exhibited in Scotland, London, Canada and Barcelona and completed residencies at MANY Studios, Hospitalfield Arts and Scottish Sculpture Workshop.
