Francesco Poiana was born in 1990 in Italy. In 2012 he started the Painting course at Fine Art Academy in Rome, where traditional drawing, printmaking and painting techniques were taught to him. As he went to the Central Saint Martins for his post-graduate course, the discovery, development and learning of new techniques in etching and painting have become an essential part of his master’s project.
He has been a prolific artist and illustrator during those years: He worked as a Fashion Illustrator for "Hermione de Paola”, Storyboard Illustrator for “Rover dreams Production” and started an ongoing collaboration with the printmaking edition studio “Albicocco”.
His research is starting from this point, return to a method of active observation to the Image. The urgency of producing a new imaginary is taking him to paint at the studio every day. His journey is research started from the medieval guides of the Eternal city. A visual narration from the eye of a night owl that sometimes awakes during the trade toward a place to call home. His artworks represent an invitation to an intimate voyage, towards the intangible image of a golden elsewhere that anyone has wondered about at least once in his daydreams.
