Graeme Reed

Graeme Reed’s prints try to capture his experiences and understanding of what it feels like to be part of an image saturated world, punctuated by snapshots of global media imagery one minute, and provincial daily life the next.

In his work, this heightened juxtaposition of multiple visual experiences, increasingly reveals itself in the personal anxieties and insecurities of his characters.

He's particularly interested in ‘fashion’ as a metaphor for the passion, confusion and anxiety that we feel about our 'selves', our ‘appearance’ and the world we live in.

His images inevitably start to explore ideas about ‘fitting in’, ‘belonging’, ‘seeking approval’, 'standing out' and more notably, the sense of ‘disorientation’ felt by being pulled in so many different directions.
