Born in 1987, Guy Allen graduated from Central Saint Martins School of Art in June 2011.
It was on a trip to Paris, studying at the École Nationale Supérieure Des Beaux-Arts in 2010, that Allen first discovered the printing press. He has been fascinated by the traditional art of printing techniques ever since and expertly brings an original and contemporary approach to this age old art of print-making.
In 2012 Allen trained as an assistant print-maker at the highly respected Curwen Studios, Cambridge, under Mary Dalton and Stanley Jones, mastering the variety and diversity of the medium. He now works as an artist in his Peckham studio and prints at the respected Artichoke Printmaking Studios, accompanied by his trusty wire-haired dachshund Loaf.
With exceptional draftsmanship, distinctive style and striking ability, Allen continually experiments with his approach; combining etchings with lithography, linocut, aquatint and gold-leaf, adding colour, texture and a more tonal quality to the work.
Guy Allen has been accepted at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition twice and has shown internationally in Dubai and New York. His work is housed in private collections throughout the UK, as well as Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong.
