Ian Brown

Brown is a Brighton based artist who runs a print workshop, Volcanic Editions, 10 minutes from Brighton Railway Station.

Look On My Works is the first of a series of prints being made as a response to his experiences researching The Seven Seas box set. ‘Look on my works’ references Shelley’s Ozymandias, ‘Look on my works ye mighty and despair’.

Shelley wrote this to underscore the almost self evident truth that even the grandest man made structures built to express the hubris of the rich and powerful were bound to be eroded and finally turn to dust. Given time nature would always prevail. Unfortunately we are now in a situationcs where this scenario is reversed.

Brown uses the iceberg as a metaphor for climate change and combining it with images that celebrate the majesty of the natural world.
