Ian Rawlinson's work explores places of transition and aspects of internal and external change. These points of transformation are a recurring theme giving voice to ideas of identity, connection and other internal processes.
His recent work reflects upon ideas of place and memory, taking inspiration from areas of Cambridge connected to his childhood. This ongoing project has included a series of solo exhibitions and short films which have been shown in Cambridge over the past five years. Each of the exhibitions and films reflect a different area, either lost or greatly changed since Rawlinson lived in the city.
He is now extending the scope of these ideas to incorporate other significant locations and imagery from his past.
