Ilaria Rosselli Del Turco
Del Turco is an Italian artist based in London since 1999. She is a figurative painter who works mainly from observation, painting still life, portraits and figures. She shows regularly in UK and abroad; her work has been included in the BP Portrait Award, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Threadneedle Prize, the Lynn Painters Stainers Prize, the ING Discerning Eye exhibition and is in private collections in Europe, Hong Kong and US. Having studied printmaking in Florence during her training, she rediscovered the medium a few years ago and started making monotypes with imagery from her own paintings. From there she progressed naturally to mezzotint as the technique allows her to work with tone and edges. Her latest series of work features mediterranean plants that she found around her London home, a metaphor for freedom of movement in Europe and a tribute to the beauty and richness of a diverse society.
