Jackie Smith uses the Sussex coastline as a starting point in these prints to explore the meeting place of the land and the sea. She is interested in connections between artist, place, nature and human interaction - particularly in the way we shape, use and view the land. For example, the dynamics and interplay between building concrete sea defences and processes of coastal erosion. She considers concepts of strength, fragility and vulnerability within an environment and explores texture, line and form through various printmaking processes.
Jackie has exhibited in shows around London and have work held in private collections in both the UK and internationally. She is currently an Associate Printmaker and part time tutor at the Art Academy London.
