John Bryce RE

After retiring as a professional aviation researcher, John pursues an active career as a watercolour painter and wood engraver. He was elected a member of the Society of Wood Engravers (SWE) in 1990 and made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) in 2010. He is also a member of the Wapping Group of Artists (WGA)  and paints River Thames subjects with the Group throughout the Spring and Summer and often uses his watercolour studies as inspiration for his wood engravings. Many of these depict the effects of light in the sky, on buildings and water, achieved by the use of engraving tools to cut a variety of marks  on the block to express drama and mood. He regularly exhibits his engravings at the RE Bankside Gallery, London and the SWE annual exhibitions.  Also, he shows work at open exhibitions at the Mall Galleries and has exhibited at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions.
