Julia Parkinson

Julia Parkinson graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 2016. She has exhibited extensively within the UK including Camden Arts Center, the Independents at the Liverpool Biennial and was part of the New Contemporaries Exhibition at the ICA in 2014. Her work looks at the phenomenological. She investigates substances and materials and concentrates on maximizing the potential of them coalescing together. There is an alchemy of matter to them - works burn, melt and transform. Time and duration repeatedly make an appearance. Chance mixes with control with often unexpected outcomes. The work is driven by an interpretation of landscape. The fixing of a liquid malleability of substance seeks to capture the changing terrain of the earth.
