Clark's works are one off captured moments. Her unique painterly approach to printmaking allows her to be responsive to the process of discovery as the images evolve. Her work is inspired by direct experience with the sea, often whilst sailing or travelling. This has led to sometimes challenging conditions, such as tropical storms or sudden, unexpected changes in the weather. It is often these moments, which offer the most provoking subject matter for her work. The mysterious and uncontrollable flux of the sea offers a sense of awe which in turn connects to our most basic human emotions, along with a sense of the beyond and restorative, uplifting powers of nature.
