Karen Keogh RE

Karen Keogh produces richly coloured 3 plate etchings. They are primarily concerned with exploring the landscape or cityscape. Visual sense of the scene is made by finding and simplifying the shapes, exaggerating the natural patterns and rhythms, and describing the colour, using her own personal interpretation.

Sometimes colour is used independently of the subject, generating light and space by this alone.

A recent series she has been working on, has been inspired by seeing the great trees of London. The first one was spotted in Richmond Park , being a 700 year old oak tree. These trees all have something special about them whether it is size, age or rarity. They are usually in a beautiful setting. She has now produced 13, but since there are 100 such trees in the capital, she has a long term project ahead of her.
