Through the drypoint technique, Ito aims to express new printmaking images with a particular interest in the relationship between the art and the nature.
“Frequently, I am drawing a ‘pine’ in my works. Since ancient times, inn Japan, pine is related to life and culture. I am exploring that the unique art of Japan evolved from there. For example, the culture of Japanese garden, and BONSAI. Inspired from nature's beauty, people created new beauty.”
By using a traditional technique and traditional motif, Ito seeks to make new imagery that transcends photography.
