Marianna Zoumpliou’s work is inspired by materials and age. Marks left by time, deeply fascinate her, such as erosion of metals or organic decay. When encountering lost objects, she often wonders about their past, so through art, she is trying to bring forward their forgotten stories.
Zoumpliou has studied Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art in Athens and is currently completing her MA in Fine Arts in University of East London.
“I observe people and objects and depict what they are trying to hide. There is beauty in weirdness, and a careful look at the mirror can be a quick journey to a world where mirage exists around or inside us. My work is like these glances, vibrant, rapid and sometimes unsure of what to find in them.”
