Composed of analogue print, sculpture and installation, Marine Lefebvre depicts personal utopian spaces - reinterpretations of environments she has experienced. Layering colours and drawings, and playing with scale to build up depth and illusion, Marine uses materials and techniques in ways so the viewer will not recognise them.
"My work is a balance between illustration and abstraction, reality and dream. In order to create tension between these different aspects, the spaces have a narrative and a theatrical facet. The images are composed in a way that they are fragments of a wide space, a mental space."
The spaces the artist depicts are innately natural environments, yet evidence of human interaction is visible. The natural and the familiar elements are depicted in a way to be left open to personal interpretation.
