Sally Cutler

Sally is a relief printmaker working in Linocut based in South-East London.

Her work focuses on portraits of real people especially Londoners and their communities.

The London Life Series looks at Londoners who wear hats. Each image is made from a multi-block colour linocut and old printers lead type. The characters are The Peckham Policeman, The Pearly Prince of Finsbury, The Yeoman Warder at The Tower of London and The Westminster Guardsman.<br />Each artwork is entirely printed by hand using hand burnishing to extract the colour from the lino blocks.

Sally has exhibited widely most notably The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Discerning Eye, The Royal Society of Portrait Painters, National Print Exhibition and Dulwich Picture Gallery.<br />Sally has received notable commissions from The Tate Gallery, Liverpool, BBC Books, The Women's Press and Random House.

Sally was shortlisted for The Ruskin Prize in 2015.

Collections include The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford Print Archive,The National library of Wales, Aberystwyth, Apthorp Collection, Barnet, The Royal Free Hospital, London.
