Sonia Martin

Sonia Martin includes drawing, painting, monotypes, and etching on copper plates among her practise.  The image can begin with a word or phrase, something seen or remembered, which is then developed from drawings, and sketches from life, into an imaginary composition.  Themes such as memory, mortality and the search for freedom run through her work, adding to the sense of a poetic logic. They are intended to imply, rather than explain, their content to the viewer.
