Susanna Widmann studied Fine Arts and graduated as an Illustrator in Barcelona which she worked in for a few years before forming a career in tattooing.
“It seemed like a very natural progression as I was getting heavily tattooed myself. What was at first curiosity became a fascinating job, but I never lost the love and drive to draw and print.”
Widmann uses a Bic Biro in most of her drawing because she loves the texture one can achieve and how it translates onto the different media she uses such as Photopolymer. In using the softest of papers, the artist recognises an appreciation of the grain in the paper into which the illustration was originally drawn.
“I create dreamy and surreal images. I mix anatomical both human and animal with botanical drawings. I also like combining unrelated elements, exploring the way they interact and merge together.”
