Tania Skeaping (b. 1973 Ashford, UK) studied BA Joint Hons History of Art and Visual Studies at Oxford Brookes University (1991-94). Working from photographs and sketches taken on site, through printmaking she explores the patterns inherent in the natural world and how natural forces including man shape the environment.
Often the subject will be found in the margins in which manmade structures and the natural world are overlapping in incongruous ways. Repeated subjects include the sea, ice formations, rock formations, and defences from World War II. These structures are a poignant reminder of Europe’s recent past that are gradually being eroded by the sea.
