Authenticities of memory and travel experience are always the sources of inspiration for Yu-Chen's artworks.
Yu-Chen believes that memory is an accumulation and continuation of time, and when processed by the brain, scenes from our memories lose their realness. Just as the process of creating a woodcut print involves the stacking of colors, images in our memories are likewise repeatedly revised within our brains.
It’s a world she created by reimagining her memories.
Yu-Chen reproduces many images she has never seen in person by simulating personal experience. To her, memories produced by the brain are unreal, as if we’re wandering around at some uncertain place in the greater environment.
